As part of the Kalamazoo Sustainability Strategy, the City is exploring composting as a way to help reduce food waste in landfills. The City and the Vine Neighborhood Association are working together to host a week of free compost pick up for Vine neighborhood residents as a pilot project. Through this project we want to learn how much interest and demand there is for a food waste collection service. After signing up, Vine residents can pick up a bucket, collect food scraps for the week, and then get a free pickup on 9/3. Registration required, limited to first 100 to register.

Bucket Pick Up

Stop by the Vine Neighborhood Association (814 S. Westnedge) on Thursday, August 27 from 4:30pm to 7pm to pick up a bucket.

You can register in person when picking up your bucket or register online ahead of time: Sign Up for a Week of Free Food Compost Pickup

Composting Survey

In addition to the one week, free, pilot program for compost pick up, community input is being collected through a Food Waste Composting Survey. Fill out the composting survey to let us know what you think about food waste collection in Vine. Take the Composting Survey
