OVERVIEW:

The Complete Street Advisory Committee is a group of residents, advocates, who provide up-to-date recommendations on national best practices, lead outreach and educational efforts in the community, and provide guidance on project prioritization for equitable access across the city.

Currently there are 3 openings on the committee. Please note, the committee is an ad-hoc volunteer board, not an official city board or commission.

BACKGROUND:

In 2019, the City of Kalamazoo Complete Streets Policy (document) was approved creating the Complete Street Advisory Committee. The Complete Street Advisory Committee (“CSAC”) is an ad-hoc volunteer committee of residents from special interest groups, core neighborhoods, or anyone who thought Kalamazoo’s streets should be safe and friendly to all users. In late 2021/early-2022 the Complete Street Design Manual was completed. That manual can be found here. This document sets the stage for CSAC to help evaluate all future Capital Improvement Projects against Complete Street Design. Bylaws, an application, and workplan are being drafted, streamlined, and reviewed to help guide CSAC into 2022 and beyond.
