This zoning update is part of implementation for the City’s Master Plan and aligns with the community vision detailed in the Eastside Neighborhood Plan. Community meetings were held in early 2020 to collect and confirm community input but seeking approval of the updates was put on hold due to COVID-19.

To restart discussions, staff attended an Eastside Business Committee meeting in October and distributed door hangers and flyers in November and December to properties in the area under consideration. Notice of the public hearing was published in the Kalamazoo Gazette. A notice letter and map were mailed to all property owners and occupants in the rezoning area on Wednesday, December 16.

The proposed update to the Zoning Map for this area is intended to remove barriers to infill and rehab development that supports the neighborhood vision. To learn more about this project please visit the project page at www.imaginekalamazoo.com/projects/eastsidezoning
