In April and May two of our city staff members were awarded scholarships to participate in an online training course through the Association of Climate Change Officers (https://climateofficers.org/)

The course is part of the path toward earning the credential of Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P). The training included four modules:

  1. Climate Science & Vulnerability Assessment

  2. GHG, Energy & Water Management

  3. Climate Change Governance, Law & Policy

  4. Materiality, Risk, Management & Economics.

This knowledge will help inform the Sustainability Strategy that city staff have been working on alongside community partners and stakeholders. We are currently working on compiling all of the input and data we have collected so far to start working on a draft strategy. In June, we have also started to resume collecting community input virtually through interviews and online meetings focusing on the topics of residential energy efficiency and tree canopy.
