The Natural Features Protection Overlay District was approved by the Kalamazoo City Commission on May 20, 2019.

The City of Kalamazoo is seeking applicants for the proposed Natural Features Protection (NFP) Review Board through May 3, 2019. This board is being created as part of the Natural Features Protection Overlay Ordinance.

On Tuesday April 9, 2019 the Planning Commission recommended to the City Commission approval of the proposed Natural Features Protection Zoning Overlay Ordinance and map. Draft 4 of the ordinance is available here and will go to City Commission next to seek final approval.

The third draft of the Natural Features Protection Zoning Overlay Ordinance is available. The third draft of the ordinance will go to Planning Commission on Tuesday April 9. Responses to questions and comments from the Community Wide Meeting are also available.

The second draft of the Natural Features Protection Zoning Overlay Ordinance is available. This second draft includes edits from input received during the four focus group meetings and input that was emailed or submitted online.

Since posting the Draft Natural Features Protection Ordinance online on Friday February 15th we are excited to have received a lot of input from the community! We also appreciate everyone who attended focus group meetings to share input and ask questions. We’ve been working hard to address the questions and comments we have received so far.
